Nintama Rantarou: Ninjutsu Gakuen Zenin Shutsudou! no Dan commentary

I've been wanting to write about this movie for a while because it was my entry point into the franchise, and since I've been neck deep into the script recently after translating it, I thought now is a good time. However, I wasn't sure how to articulate my post, and what direction to give it... So in the end, it looks like a collection of my own thoughts, mixed with some trivia, notes about the script and how I translated some things, in my best attempt at following the movie chronologically. I hope it doesn't come off as too messy and that it is at least a little bit of an interesting read to you. Let's begin under the read more! Beware of spoilers, and forgive my broken English.

A little background first of all: The first Nintama Rantarou movie came out in 1996. This one, Ninjutsu Gakuen Zenin Shutsudou! no Dan, came out 15 years later, in March 2011. And 13 years later, in December 2024, we will get the third movie in the franchise... the gaps are too long, I don't want to wait a decade between each movie >< More precisely, this movie came out in theaters on March 12 2011, that is to say one day after the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami of March 11 2011 ; it resulted in promotional events related to the movie being cancelled, and in general theaters in Japan shortening screenings or closing entirely. As a consequence of this, the movie is a box-office failure, despite having extremely positive reviews.

The movie itself adapts the contents of volume 37 and 42 of the manga, which had already been animated in the 16th season of the anime series, making the movie a remake of sort, with movie-only original scenes, and an adaptation of the plot so that it includes every member of Ninjutsu Academy.

Personally, I only watched this movie recently at the recommendation of friends, and while I've felt a bit overwhelmed by the HUGE cast of characters, I've been charmed by the colorful palette, cheerful characters and positive, optimistic tone contrasting with the setting of the story - the Warring States period in Japan not being an obvious background for a fun children cartoon... It's a strange mix Nintama always does brilliantly and it's shown at its best in this movie I think, daring to show actual battlefields (as opposed to the usual dust clouds of the TV anime version) and wounded soldiers as explicitely as an anime for children can allow, while giving the spotlight to the Health Committee, most importantly to Rantarou as he finds his role and what he's best at in battle. The movie isn't about Tasogaredoki VS Oomagatoki, it actually opposes war and healing at many scales ; Tasogare Jinbei and Oomagatoki Magatoki's abusing villagers VS Ninjutsu Academy protecting them and giving them their freedom and independence, the great ninja Zatto covered in wounds and his mirror opposite clumsy Isaku the healer, and finally Rantarou who offers to heal (free of charge!) soldiers and let them go when the expectation at the time was that surrendering meant death. It's like, in an era poisoned by war and death, Ninjutsu Academy is a little pocket of optimism where children grow to make the future a little bit kinder, here shown most explicitely in the Health Committee and Isaku's good influence but not only ; and I found that surprisingly sweet. I also have an interest in historical settings and anime so... yeah, that movie left a good impression on me!

Anyways, now to follow the movie chronologically! Iza~

Opening scene

The movie opens with a flashback scene involving Zatto and Isaku, introducing the big themes of the movie I mentioned before. According to Amako Soubee, the original author of the manga Nintama Rantarou is adapted from, cloth was expensive at the time, hence the recurring use of flags, clothings, underwears, etc recycled as bandages.

Isaku is dressed as yamabushi, practicioners of shugendo, known for retreating to the mountains for ascetic practices, rituals, etc. In the context of nintama, the outfit permits to hide Isaku's affiliation, making him an enemy of no one, and signify a knowledge of herbs and medicine giving him credibility to care for the wounded.

Ninjutsu Academy

The TV anime seems to go back and forth with this, sometimes showing background students in classrooms, sometimes showing very small classrooms (like how 1st year i-class and ro-class each have 4 known students, and they are sometimes the only ones in their classroom while sometimes there are more desks occupied by nameless mob characters), but the movie features a BUNCH of unknown, nameless students appearing in the back. It's probably an effort to give the school a feeling of greatness to fit the grand scale of the story, but it's a bit weird to see unfamiliar students especially in older years haha.

The 名物 meibutsu, or local specialty of Sonoda Village. It's a flower tha is never named, and despite showing up multiple times throughout the movie no big attention is brought to it, apart from it being mentioned that while it can be used as a painkiller, a wrong dose is poisonous. It finally gets a significant role at the very end, though, when it's used by Tasogaredoki to halt the Dokutake army. I think I could write a lot about the symbolism of this flower and how it relates to Isaku but it may border on crazy fan rambling so it'll be for another time. (maybe)

Komatsuda was probably too busy thinking of his big brother, owner of a fan shop, to notice the pattern on the floor spelling へっぽこ heppoko, "useless", "incompetent".

When the ha-class is discussing the mixed-up homework, Chouji is shown growing asagao, Japanese morning glories. Because these flowers grow fast and easily, they are often used as teaching material in lower grades of elementary school where students have to care for them and report on their growth as homework.

In the same scene, while all of ha-class is laughing, only Shouzaemon and Kingo stay serious, Shouzaemon being well, Shouzaemon and Kingo being Kisanta's roommate.

Before the Headmaster enters, there's a sheet of paper on the floor with every student's name and the homework they received. If they got the right homework, it's marked with a O. Flipping and zooming on this frame reveals whose students got the wrong homework, and what the assignment they got was. Sadly, since the text is blurry I couldn't decipher everything, and putting the whole list will make this post even longer than it already is. But I can tell you that apart from Kisanta, Monjirou, Chouji, and the Rescue Team... Heita, Kyuusaku, Shirobei, Sakubei, Kazuma, Takamaru, Heisuke and Hachizaemon got the wrong homework too.

...Takamaru's summer homework was "crossdressing".

Kisanta Rescue Team's introduction scene has a LOT of interesting details, so I already dedicated a post for it.

Talk with Tegata Kessai

Tegata Kessai explains how he wants to get a 庇いの制札 kabai no seisatsu from Tasogaredoki's lord, which I translated as a "protection decree" for ease of reading, but it's actually a little bit different. In the words of Doi-sensei: "Don't burn, steal, and kill. Basically, a document prohibiting the army from committing violence." kabai means protecting or sheltering, while seisatsu refers to an edict publicly displayed on a wooden board in a specific place to make the public aware of a law in place in the area, a recent proclamation of the local lord or of the shogun, etc.

Danzou misunderstands kabai no seisatsu as kaba no keisatsu, literally "a hippo policeman" - I don't know if the average Muromachi child would be knowledgeable of animals in Sub-saharan Africa, though!

I think the people behind him are Maasai people, but I'm not very knowledgeable so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Kousaka makes his only appearance ever in civil clothes in the next scene. I have to point it out. It's important., okay. By the way, badminton only became a thing in the 19th century. But feudal Japan already had a similar game called hanetsuki, which started as a game reserved for nobles, but grew in popularity during Muromachi and became a New Year tradition by Edo. He's not being anachronistic... just a little bit avant-garde.

Opening theme and to Sonoda Village

The noodles they are eating is a dish called kuzukiri, a popular, refreshing summer dessert from Kyoto, so it's a local snack for nintama. It's made by mixing kudzu starch with water, and once thickened, cut in the shape of noodles with the tool seen above. It's then served with black sugar syrup traditionally, and with a variety of others toppings in modern times.

Given Sanjirou, Isuke and Heidayuu's reactions, looks like there wasn't enough for everyone.

What I translated as "hand", as in a manual worker, is 夫丸 bumaru in the original script, and is a word specific to Muromachi-Edo. The bu part means male and maru is a suffix for names used at the time for children (like Kirimaru!) or lower-class workers. Shinbei explains that they are "the people carrying supplies to the battlefield", which is true, but it seems that the word refers to lower classes laborers in a more general way.

When Kirimaru explains how he traded his lunchbox for a bunch of things until he got the Oomagatoki hands' uniform, Rantarou tells him it's just like Warashibe chouja, or the Straw Millionaire story. It's a folktale that became popular during the Muromachi period, about a poor man who starts by trading a piece of straw, and after a series of trades, meets with a rich man who offers him his daughter in marriage, making the poor man a millionaire.

Rantarou misreads the tag as "Size rerere" because the roman letter L looks like the katakana character レ, which is read re. So レレレ is read rerere.

When Kirimaru first tries to carry Shinbei on his shoulders, they both talk in a very theatrical, over the top way, and wear red make-up. You can also hear a nohkan flute, hyoushigi wood clappers and tsuzumi drum in the background. This is all typical of Kabuki theater.

Just a cute detail, but Rikichi was carrying Shouzaemon on his back in this scene.

Okay.. that's a very poor attempt at adapting Rikichi's joke, I hope we find something better by the time we release it publicly hahaha. In the original script he says 斯く斯く然々kakukaku shikajika, which simply means "this and that", "such and such"... while holding a puppet of the bishop shogi piece, called kakugyou or kaku for short, and a puppet of a deer, or shika in japanese. So the joke is that as he says kakukaku shikajika, he shows a kaku and a shika... hm...

Lord Oomagatoki, in hiding, wears a raccoon dog mask to conceal his face. Raccoon dogs with the ability to shapeshift to conceal their true identity and play tricks on others are a common motif in japanese folktales and they are known as bakedanuki. They are usually portrayed as goofy and fun characters, with um, large testicles reminiscent of Oomagatoki's chin under the mask lol.

Zatto turns his head to listen to lord Tasogare from his right side, since he's deaf in his left ear.

Sonoda Village

Everyone is here! This is the part where you point in excitement at your fave getting two seconds of screentime.

Chouji is shown with the 震天雷 shintenrai, or thunder crash bomb, which will play a big role later in the story.

There are a few words used related to Ninjutsu Academy's whole defense tactic that are a bit specific, either to warfare or to the period, which I swapped for ease of reading. For example, 逆茂木 sakamogi is "abatis", as in a fortification made from stacking wood. I left it as simply "barrier" for ease of reading.

The rabbit design of the telescope is explained in the manga and TV anime, but not in the movie. According to Shousei-san, it's a common motif on telescopes, but when I tried to find pictures of real telescopes with a similar design I only found Nintama Rantarou related webpages. So. Okay stay with me this is a little look into how tricky nintama can be to translate sometimes hahaha... The design is a pun based on the 12 animals of the zodiac, ordered like this: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig. If you count ten animals starting from the rabbit, you end up with rat. Rat in japanese is nezumi, or "ne" for short. "tenth is rat" is 10番目がね juubanme ga ne, which you can also read as 十目がね toome ga ne, which is itself an homonym of 遠眼鏡 toomegane, "telescope". ...Phew!!!

When the Explosives Committee destroys the bridges leading to the village, Takamaru and Saburouji, being newer additions to the committee, have to cover their ears while Doi and Heisuke are okay.

While most soldiers in the Tasogaredoki army simply wear the skull kamon (emblem) of their lord, higher ranking members wear kabuto helmets with... interesting designs, like a crab, squid, or a banana design. In the Muromachi period, when the tanegashima matchlocks were introduced, armors had to be redesigned to become thicker and bulletproof ; as their design evolved, so did the datemono, or crests on helmets. Initially U shaped, these crests got a number of designs, usually one's kamon or fortuitous animals like rabbits, dragonflies, etc. Yes, samurai walked around with cute rabbit ears. The country of moe, truly.

Here, Isuke and Shouzaemon call Hieta Happousai 冷えた 発泡酒 Hieta Happoushu, hieta meaning cold and happoushu refering to an alcoholic drink similar to beer. Unless I find something better, it's Hieta Happousoda in the translation.

Look at how cute Hikoshirou dozing off is. Yes, that's all.

This scene puts a lot of focus on the two tins containing the leaves from Sonoda's local flower ; it can be used both as a painkiller or a poison depending on the dose. When Zatto enters the room, Fushikizou throws a bunch of stuff at him, including one of the tins. Just after, Fushikizou notices that Zatto took one of the tin with him... but doesn't seem to have told anyone about it. I guess that makes the first time Zatto and Fushikizou work together!

Tasogaredoki's assault

The tactic used by Ninjutsu Academy... well... Torawaka to defend the village against Tasogaredoki is very reminiscent of the battle of Waterloo, where Wellington's army was posted on a slope made muddy by bad weather, slowing down French troops.

The shintenrai, or thunder crash bomb, is just as Senzou explains in the movie: "Ordinary cannonballs don't explode on impact. But this thunder crash bomb has a timed fuse, and its shell itself explodes." It comes from China, and is one of the first bombs developed in history.

I love this scene so much... well, I already explained the reasons why above. But even though he's the titular character, Rantarou rarely gets the chance to shine like this, doesn't he? After this line, you can hear hyoushigi again, as Kirimaru and Shinbei cheer for Rantarou. This evokes Japanese theater again ; what they are doing is called kakegoe, shouts from the audience to encourage performers. When a kabuki play reaches its climax, when an actor does something really impressive, he will often strikes a pose and the story will stop for a moment just for the audience to shout such kakegoe.

I don't know if it's intentional, but there's a scene earlier in the movie where Tasogare Jinbei repeats multiple times "Nine for me, one for Magatoki-dono", referring to their respective share at dinner but obviously to the taxes taken from Sonoda Village, too. Yuki wasn't here to witness it, I think, but I find it ironic that she specifically goes "One for my lord" here as he hasn't realized yet his scheme has been found out.

Tasogaredoki ninja corps used the leaves taken from the Health Committee earlier to stop Dokutake.

It's more explicit in the manga but Monjirou is bonking his head because he's frustrated he didn't get to fight haha.

And Kisanta isn't the only one who completed his summer homework in the end, Isaku did too!!

Happy Tomesaburou month! I’ve subbed a Hama-centric episode I really enjoy. I’m in the middle of watching Season 30 and there’s a bunch of really cute episodes…I’m chipping at the flashback episodes in the meantime but this episode was sandwiched between them so I went for it too. Kema’s a very sweet character…I love how he’s kind of the honorary big sibling of the entire equipment committee. They’re a big family to me…what am i saying

Title and this episode reference Shuichirou’s debut back in the Season 23 (vol 54 in the manga) Hodohodo Castle saga. I really like this arc and I'd totally recommend watching it if you can (x) along with some of the other Hama-centric episodes in S23 and S24. Throwing backstory context below the cut for fun:

Hama's a descendant of Matsuhodo castle's ninjas (his great-grandfather was one of them). It was defeated 70 years ago which left a bit of a stain on their reputation and forced them out of work, so they've fallen out of vogue. Shuichirou's sentiment is that if the main Matsuhodo ninjas had been at the castle when it fell, it wouldn't have been defeated, so he guarded the ruins ever since.

A bunch of rival factions were trying to capture it for strategic reasons, including the Tasogaredoki (a prominent enemy castle on good terms with Ninjutsu Gakuen) so Shuichirou was helping them hold fort until the rest of the army arrives. Plot happens. The castle ends up falling and Shuichirou eventually ends up joining Ninjutsu Gakuen later as a ro-class fourth year. He picks the Equipment Committee to join in Season 24.

He was raised in the mountains so he's a bit inexperienced. His great-grandpa had terrible hearing, so he has a tendency to SPEAK VERY LOUD and is VERY ENTHUSIASTIC all the time. His main gag is that his sense of humor is terrible and he'll explode laughing over stuff like bad wordplay. i love him

4th grade

- fukuko Oishi

Ofc we all know fukuko she probably want to end up with someone who have a pretty hair but other than that fukuko unconsciously always attracted to a man who treat her badly as she once before have a crush to her bully. But this is not always the case, someone who good at making her laugh or feel embarrassed will work to, for example Mikagu and yes she once have a crush on him not knowing that Hiiragi is in secret relationship with him since they're 1th grade. Knowing fukuko gonna end up with nadare really tell alot about her type actually as nadare is a mix of mikagu and fukuko old bully, nadare probably the first guy that fukuko confess to (and probably the first one that rejected her and accept her in the end)

- Hiiragi kure

Hiiragi type probably the same as fukuko except for the bully part since she's easy to kick people ass no one dare to bully her, she sometimes give a tsundere ish personality to someone who easily and love teasing her. She always have fantasy about end up with a prince or a cool samurai make her have a very high standards. Her end game is Mikagu and we all know mikagu doesn't have the characteristic features of a prince or a cool samurai obviously but he have the gentleman and overprotective personality towards Hiiragi make her feel safe so she's still love him anyway even though she think that Mikagu is very stupid.

5th grade

- ameko Isa

Ame really hate boys, have something to do with her backstory make very dislike someone her age. Because of her hatred towards boys she really gard to attracted to someone and not the type have that her teenage romance. She's probably someone who have a daddy issues, she always attracted to someone FAR older than her. Have history flirting with male teachers in yahiko gakuen, it's not like the teachers pay attention to her tho. Like someone who take care of her and doesn't show affection in public. But just because of her daddy issues doesn't mean she can't end up with someone her age, she need a partner that can show her proper care and very mature is already good enough.

- Asahina Isa

Unlike her sister Asa doesn't hold hatred towards boys her age because of her mindset 'not all the men is the same'. She like pretty man because it's very nice to look at pretty face every morning. Very easily falling in love to someone who show her a lil bit of affection since she's so desperate for love. She's the type that run away from home with a man she barely knew (give a vibe like anna from frozen fr). She want someone who honest and genuinely like her, someone who is independent are good too because she's secretly very dependent women.

6th grade

- Risshū Anzai

Risshū really love pretty girls (i mean who don't girls are really pretty) he's are the type of guy who go with the flow since he's doesn't have a clear type in his mind. But he will list feature that he hope his partner have for example; someone who good at cooking, have a very good humor, calm, kind etc... You know the good characteristic but he's unconsciously attracted to intimidating women, someone who give him the scary glare whenever they're having a fight (it's turned him on–) probably try to rizz his female enemies.

- harukaze Eto

Yep pervert man have a questionable type very well– but anyway, harukaze mentioned he like a women who tied het hair up in ponytail styles. Someone who athletic is extra point because athletic women probably have a lot of energy(?). Someone who shy is also good so he can teasing them anytime. But harukaze being himself is not very choosy because in his eyes all women have their own quality so he doesn't care who he's end up with.

- Maori date

A very simple guy, as long that person know when they need to leave him alone and be there when he's need attention he doesn't ask much. His love language probably quality time and gift giving. Love independent women, he say independent women usually have a very unique personality. Since he's always a goody goof ball and have a personality of golden retriever someone who act like black cat probably suit him, he just want to make his partner happy. Oh yeah one more thing someone who good at massaging since he always have a back problem.

- Roufuu Goto

This guy get a long with harukaze very well because of 'certain' reason. Let's be honest here this both get along because of their type and kink's. Roufuu really love soft spoken women, someone who polite and have a good attitude. Like long hair women since he love to play and decorate people hair (or he just one to pull them). Even though his personality and interest is very feminine, he have a very masculine mindset so he really love someone who dependent with him.

- Raiyuu Hori

I don't think this narcissist man will ever got a partner but oh well, the type of girl Raiyuu want in his mind probably like a traditional wife you know what i mean, someone who can cook and stuff. Since he have a very strong leadership personality he tend to protect people but if there's someone who try to protect him instead he probably will be very flustered and blushing mess because– well this is First time happens to him so he doesn't know how to react. Another guy who doesn't care of what kind of person he will end up with, as long his partner love him regardless he doesn't care. Probably someone who have a deredere personality, he thinks that type of person is very adorable.

He love language is physical touch so if he end up with someone doesn't mind this kind of affection. Love bokukko/tomboyish girl but not too masculine yk. Someone who can handle his annoying ass, laugh at his joke and eat his cooking.

This guy probably end up with someone who always nagging him. He need someone who can take care of him because sometimes he can be ready careless, he's not the type who do trouble but since all his friends is troublemaker he became involved with them. So someone who care and have mother like personality pretty fit with him (for clarification he doesn't have mommy issues)

Probably someone who can handle his personality because I won't :3. It's either someone who calm that can control him or someone who have a bigger anger issues than him so they can punch him or something. Someone weaker than him physically or mentally probably works that way he will try control his temper so he will not hurt his love one.

Someone who ignore his stalker behavior :3. Please cutie patotie just curious about your life but he doesn't mean to be a creep. When talk about his personality someone who show kindness to him is already good enough tbh eventho he doesn't show any interest.

Seichou gakuen

Seichou gakuen ( 成長学園 ) is an academy that provides school and training for people who wants to become ninja, soldier, and warrior/samurai. It was founded by Hisae shimotomi iikai who died under a mysterious circumstances. The current headmaster is Esu Kaida iikai.

About:

The exact time this school existed is unknown as people who is associated with this school's early existence refuse to share any informations or dissapeared, but it is said it's created since a long time ago.

The Academy is located in the Kansai region, with the exact locating kept secret. There is no entrance exam, but there is an exit exam. People can also join as transfer students mid-semester.

This academy is not known in the public and the school pupils is either from families who has associations with the headmaster's families, allies of the school, other ninjutsu schools, pirates or people that is chosen to be a student there ( Harry Potter ref /j )

Students at the Academy are called Choutama (忍たま) For both boys and girls, there are six school years, and each school year is separated into three classes, labelled I (い), Ro (ろ), and Ha (は) following the old kana ordering system. First-years to third-years are categorized as lowerclassmen (下級生), and fourth through sixth-years are categorized as upperclassmen (上級生). Each class ( regardless gender ) is assigned two teachers: one for academic and theory studies, and one for technical skill and training. Girls have their own separate building called the Kunoichi classroom.

The textbooks used in Seichou Academy is called the 'Jinsei no chishiki' ( knowledge of life ) Only Hisae's relatives/family and pupils of the seichou Academy are allowed to have access to the textbook in order to prevent information about the academy from leaking. This textbooks is originally written by Hisae but it got modified by previous headmasters that took Hisae's place after her death. Nobody knows how the textbooks is originally written unless they are the students and staffs during hisae's time of being a headmaster. Though that, they refused to reveal anything. It is said the unmodified version of the books holds many secrets.

The Seichou Academy has a very large school campus, and facilities such as training fields, a storeroom for explosives, a pond, a dining hall, a nurse’s office, etc., which are all shared between boys and girls. It also has separate classroom buildings and dorm rooms for boys and girls. Teachers office is also separated by gender. The campus is encircled by a long wall, and unauthorized entry or exit is prohibited. Visitors are required to sign their names in for entry, and intruders will be hunted down by the students council committee members.

Although the seichou Academy is an educational organization, it acts like a full-scale castle that makes alliances with other castles, factions, academies, and helps them. It also owns a large territory of mountains and forests outside of the campus, which are used as training grounds for the students. This area is prohibited from public entries unless with any staffs or student councils guidance to avoid injuries or possible death as it is equipped with heavy traps for the students trainings.

The Seichou academy uniform is a ninja clothing, a double-sided outfit that can be quickly reversed and worn to shake off pursuers and blend into crowds. Each year has a differently-colored uniform (expanded on in Students), and the staff wear black, the common outfit color of professional ninjas.

Seichou academy also provided permissions for students and staffs to make alterations on the uniforms as long as they still kept the concept of it being a ninja clothing.

Uniforms is provided by the school's mysterious seamstress named Norita, who lives in the Seichou gakuen since who knows when. She never went out of her room unless is needed to repair any clothes.

Infos ( outfits category ):

- upperclassmen kunoichis has two versions of the uniforms and the students can pick whichever suits them the best once they reached 4th years ( the second version looks like the kunotama uniform in the anime )

- original handbands can be chosen by both students and teachers whilst net handbands is teachers specific only

- the uniforms is gender exclusives though the students can have any uniforms they want regardless genders, but most of the time they all just use the original orders.

- death.. Does happens, in this school, several students has died in the past due to some technical issues or accidents during events/trainings

- some students that is chosen to attend the school is not even from Shinobi or any warrior related role family, they are simply choose because in the eyes of the recruiters they fit for it

Do you think there's another years of kunoichi in ninjutsu gakuen? Like yuki is 11 y/o so she might a second year kunoichi but idk, what's your opinion?

I get the question before at my other platforms ^^ sorry if it a bit long.

In my information it is not impossible for first year kunoichi to exist, since we're don't got the information whether the canon kunoichi where the first year or not.. but i assuming yuki, tomo, and the other are fact 2nd years. And i think maybe the kunoichi also have the other years like 1nd year to 6th years too, But maybe the first year kunoichi class are in a small quantities since they're are very young girl and Probably their class are special and secret since they're still a child ( just a thought ).

A litte funny story today, i was cleaning up my new room and found my old laptop (which i didn't use anymore but keep it as a memory, i rarely open it anyway)

So try to yk use the laptop try to fine anything cringe that i used to write in it and turn out there's a lot more lore of yahiko gakuen and Hatakeyama family that i didn't remember LMAO MY MEMORY ARE NOT THAT GOOD 😭

So i found out other than Choujou and Gekkou there's actually more other school i made for nintama and all of em is from chubu region smh

So Yahiko gakuen have a really close bond with this school who is also get a support from other side of Hatakeyama family, the school are called seiken gakuen (I don't know how i can forgot about this lmao)

So the sketch i show is yahiko 1th grade kunoichi with seiken 1th grade kunoichi 😭😭 they're twin btw but idk what their name need to look up again into my old laptop

I love asking about your ocs love interest/romance plot, do you mind sharing anything about it?

Well, tons of my OCs especially from Seichou academy is single, but there are some ocs that I shipped together (⁠人⁠*⁠´⁠∀⁠｀⁠)

For OCs that have love interest my favorite ship is probably kanone x iwao ( KaWao ) the reason why they are my favorite is because they are the first ship I made (⁠ ⁠˶⁠ ⁠❛⁠ ⁠ꁞ⁠ ⁠❛⁠ ⁠˶⁠ ⁠) both kanone and iwao is known for being more to the quite side by their friends that is why not a lot of people know anything Abt their feelings for each others. Their current relationship status right now is couples with iwao confessed first (⁠＾⁠∇⁠＾⁠)⁠ﾉ

But for a more well developed and complicated relationship I need to give to Nakajima x takemi ( NakaMi ) as kids both of them know nothing about romance and it is more hard when both of them are raised in a strict Household. They have a more complicated relationship because one of them is sometimes ignorant of the others feelings and the other is an overthinker with attachment issues. In results both of them need to try and improve themselves for the better (⁠ ⁠/⁠^⁠ω⁠^⁠)⁠/ current relationship status is crushes only, but they are canoncally married in the future (⁠っ⁠˘⁠з⁠(⁠˘⁠⌣⁠˘⁠ ⁠)

Mayoi x kana ( KanOi ) is probably one of my cutest couple, both of them has a very animal-like personality and the same understanding of the world buildings. They are also a rival to lovers Troupe (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠) sometimes both of them hunt or collect something to show/give the other as an affection sign. Current relationship is a couple (⁠人⁠*⁠´⁠∀⁠｀⁠)⁠｡⁠*ﾟ⁠+ though they're kids who probably didn't even know couple is a thing, their interactions is more to romantical rather than platonic (⁠｡⁠•̀⁠ᴗ⁠-⁠)⁠✧

My only oc x oc is Miki x Hiroto, Miki is a kind and hardworking girl while hiroto is a somewhat procrastinator with anger issues ( opposite attracts core ) they both have feelings for each others but hiroto is somewhat shy and scared to make a move because yk his impatient personality gets the best of him sometimes, so Miki is the one who always starts the conversation etc. With him, she doesn't mind his attitude and she never felt out of love with him just because he accidentally snapped, Over time he is turning more patient without him even realizing it (⁠ ⁠ꈍ⁠ᴗ⁠ꈍ⁠) current status is couple but though people don't recognize it ( hiroto hates pda that's why )

My single ocs also has a love related plot, for example one of my Seichou academy oc named Kuro Yami has a mother who expects her to marry someone but a lot of guys avoid her like a plague because of her scary and creepy looks, she's also somewhat antisocial which probably one of reason why it's hard for her

Amajiki, my teacher oc at ninjutsu gakuen has a husband who died after getting killed by bandits, right now she can't really accept love or rather anxious about it. Her motherly love for Kokoro is intense because she is very protective of him

And last example is Kodaka, also my other Seichou oc, she doesn't believe in love and only thinks love is when mutual respect is shown in a relationship between two or several people, she also seems to hardly feel any romantical feelings ( though that's just her not finding the one yet (⁠´⁠ ⁠.⁠ ⁠.̫⁠ ⁠.⁠ ⁠`⁠) )
